Since our last update, Project Bluebell has moved forward at pace, with the vision for this floating timber home now becoming a reality. The single ply sedum roof has been completed, giving the building its distinctive green finish and allowing it to sit gently within the highland landscape. From the outset, the idea was that the house would blend seamlessly with its surroundings, and with the roof now established, that intent is clearly visible.
The installation of windows by Glassworx has transformed the structure, bringing light and views into every corner of the house. Standing inside, it is now possible to fully appreciate how the building frames the landscape, with each opening carefully considered to capture the beauty of the site. Externally, cladding works are progressing well, gradually wrapping the home in its protective skin of timber and preparing it for the harsh Scottish winter.
Internally, the project has reached a significant milestone with the completion of the first fix. Martin Electrical have carried out their works to an excellent standard, laying the foundations for the home’s electrical systems. EcoCoil Heating have also finished their first fix and are now preparing to install the underfloor heating system, which will provide efficient and discreet warmth throughout the house. Alongside this, MacPherson Joiners & Builders are undertaking all internal joinery, and their craftsmanship is already bringing a sense of quality and character to the interiors.
With these stages complete, Project Bluebell is moving ever closer to its final form. The combination of careful detailing, skilled workmanship, and respect for the landscape continues to guide the project, and the home is now beginning to feel like the place it was always meant to be.
